The arms are those of Johnston, for Sir Richard Johnston Bt., of Gilford co. Down., son of Sir William Johnstone who was created a baronet on 27th July 1772 and died in 1775.
The inscription reads 'Presented by the Members of the LURGAN CLUB to their worthy Brother SIR RICHARD JOHNSTON BARt as a mark of Gratitude for his Services to his country and of their entire approbation of his Spirited and active Conduct as a Magistrate in Surpressing and bringing to Justice those lawless Insurgents who under Pretence of redressing Grievances disturbed the Publick Peace in the year 1772'. Also engraved with Latin inscription 'Beneficia dando accepit, qui digno dedit'
