The arched-cornice bureau with gothic glazing bar features in Thomas Shearer's Cabinet-Makers' London Book of Prices, 1788, pl. 7, together with 'compass fronted' furniture and a bureau-drawer with brass quadrant supports, plate 1. This particular pattern of glazing featured in his 2nd edition, 1793, pl. 15, no. 6.
