The early 19th century saw a continuation in production by Josiah II of the ornament wares in the Eygptian style first introduced by Wedgwood and Bentley in 1773. In this later period, this style of decoration rarely appeared on 'useful' wares; however, an exception is the remarkable set of oval and octagonal settling-pans made for Lady Anson's dairy at Shugborough, ordered in 1807. Four of each shape have survived at Shugborough, see Robin Reilly, op. cit., vol. II, col. pl. C56 and p. 487
