Two series in one vol., 2° (540 x 340mm.), 40+8pp. 4° text for series I and II and the folding engraved map are disbound and attached to card insert at beginning in blank wrappers, engraved dedication serving as title to series I, one engraved leaf and 4 lithographed leaves of subscribers and 24 (18+6) fine hand-coloured aquatint plates by H. Pyall, G. Hunt and others after Moore, Marryat (5) and Captain Thornton (1) (slight soiling and occasional small tears in a few blank margins). Modern half calf.

Early issue with plate 16 in the first state with the spelling 'ajacent' and plates 14 and 1-4 marked proof also including the very rare text to both series with the printed slip To Subscribers explaining that the plates to the main work are not given in the planned order owing to the illness of one of the artists, but without the device and imprint at the end of the text called for by Abbey.
