3 volumes, 8° (190 x 117mm.), 3 engraved titles (not cut down to size but folded at the base), 4 anatomical plates and 180 hand-coloured engraved plates by and after Hunt (titles and a few plates slightly shaved; occasional offsetting and paper discolouration). Recent half calf and marbled boards, spines gilt with olive morocco labels, by Bernard Middleton. Bookplate of Hugh Fattorini.
FIRST EDITION, VERY RARE. The work was never finished, the text ends in mid-sentence in vol. III and there follow 78 plates without text. Copies vary in the number of plates. This copy has all the coloured plates recorded and all the text that was published (the full complement of plates is thought to be 192, including the four anatomical plates and eight uncoloured plates).
