Woven in wools and silks, possibly of the family of Darius before Alexander, depicting a lady with a maiden and a page offering a blue cloak to a general and his soldiers in Roman armour, to the left background a prisoner held by two soldiers is taken to a prison tower, within an extensive river landscape within a town beyond, within a later brown and beige outer slip, extensively re-woven, reduced in size 100½in. x 107½in. (255cm. x 273cm.)
