(First work: title lacking, title from the Cologne 1568 collected edition supplied in its stead and slightly wormed, neatly repaired tears to J2 and O6, second work: second part of second work misbound after third work, lacking blank A4 and final blank D6, small hole in G1 and D5, neatly repaired tears to H2 and X3, third work: third part only, lacking final blank and errata leaf, repairs to 3A1-2, 3B4, 3F1-3 and 3G6). 19th-century leather, covers with elaborate gilt metal furniture mounts, modern morocco box (rebacked). FIRST EDITIONS OF ALL THREE WORKS. The Thirde Parte is from Birckman's 1568 collected edition. William Turner (c.1508-1568), Dean of Wells has been called the father of British botany, and this is his most important work, marking 'the beginning of modern botany in England' (Henrey I.p.18).
