Details
MANNING, James. Outline of the Earth. [London, circa 1852].

A terrestrial miniature globe, diameter 2 ¾ inches (70mm). 12 hand-coloured engraved gores over a plaster base, lightly varnished, continents and principal states coloured in outline, metal pinions, mounted horizontally in it's original embossed card box.

An interesting miniature globe by Manning similar to his 2 inch globe similarly boxed. The globe can be dated from the inclusion of Victoria as a separate state in Australia, and before the creation of Queensland. Manning made globes up to 12 inch diameter principally for educational purposes.
