NEWTON & SON. Newton's new and improved Terrestrial Globe; Improved pocket Celestial Globe. London: published by Newton and Son, 66 Chancery Lane & 3 Fleet St, undated [circa 1831].

A pair of terrestrial and celestial miniature table globes, diameter 3 inches (75mm), overall height 6 ¼ inches (160mm). Each globe with 12 hand-coloured engraved gores, the terrestrial marking the tracks of Cook's 2nd and 3rd voyages, and Biscoe's antarctic voyage 1830-31 (a few minor cracks neatly restored). Metal pinions, set in brass half meridian circles, and mounted on later mahogany turned stands with central column and trifolium base on three brass feet.

An attractive pair of miniature globes by the Newton Family, in fine condition, the addition of the Fleet St address and Biscoe's track indicating a later edition.
