The circular enamelled dial decorated with Arabic chapters and inlaid with red and green glass lozenges suspended from blue-painted and gilt rosette-enriched swags signed Vaillant à Paris, the fluted spreading pedestal base surmounted by a pair of cooing doves in a cloudburst, above a central inset relief with putti emblematic of science and draped female herms to the sides, the bowfronted base with a seated figure of Venus, holding a dove, above a scrolling foliate arabesque frieze with centred opposing eagles, on a beaded spreading plinth and turned spreading beaded feet, lacking glazing, minor chips, with inventory number 5156
