Lot Essay

This Louis XVI style work-table (table à ouvrage en coffret), with columnar legs and floral marquetry incorporating a pastoral trophy of musical instruments, in the style of J. H. Riesener (d. 1806), is mounted with marble plaques like a 19th century table at Waddesdon Manor, (G. de Bellaigue, Furniture .. at Waddesdon Manor, 1974, Vol. II, p. 121).
