AN ORMOLU-MOUNTED GILTMETAL AND TORTOISESHELL CARTEL CLOCK ON PEDESTAL
The glazed and pierced circular enamel Arabic and Roman-chaptered dial within a domed frame, surmounted by a winged figure and with lambrequins and foliate scrolled angles, the door with beaded borders and enamel cartouche, the angles with foliate and floral satyr-masks, the glazed sides conformingly inlaid, above a trophy apron and espagnolette-mask headed feet, on a rectangular tapering ebonised pedestal, with central foliate and trophy mount with espagnolette-mask within acanthus and variously framed by stiff-leaf and contre-partie Boulle borders, the crossbanded sides with figures, on a shaped base with flowerheads and an espagnolette-mask and on foliate bun feet, distressed, basically early 18th Century, the pedestal altered in shape, restorations and corner mounts replaced in the 19th Century
