A DUTCH-ENGRAVED LIGHT-BALUSTER GOBLET
Circa 1750

The flared funnel bowl amusingly engraved with two pairs of legs showing from beneath a clump of trees, and with a sword, stick and tricorn hat lying discarded on the ground, the reverse inscribed HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE, supported on an angular knopped section above a beaded inverted baluster stem and basal knop, on a conical foot (minute chip to footrim)
