This piece is directly related to the Russian centre table, possibly after a design by the Neapolitan Carlo Rossi (1775 - 1849), illustrated in Antoine Cheneviére, Russian Furniture, The Golden Age, 1780 - 1840, London, 1988, p. 279, fig. 304
