Designed in the Augsburg 'arabesque' manner, the scroleld Roman acanthus foliage and lion-supported escutcheons of this frame relate to Flemish patterns for 'compartments, shields, mantlings, foldige' in R. Prick's Ornaments of Architecture, 1674.
