SACCHI, Antonio. Il Primo Libro di Mostre Cancellaresche, et altere diverse maniere di lettere di Antonio Sacchi Scittore in Ravenna. [Ravenna: ?1602].

Oblong 4° (210 x 285mm.). 42 leaves all printed recto only; engraved dedication to Silvestro Aldobrandino incorporating his arms (numbered 1), letterpress dedication to Aldobrandino, dated Ravenna, 8 September 1602, within a border of typographic ornaments (numbered 2), 'A benigni Lettori' within a border of typographic ornaments (numbered 3), engraved dedication to Aldobrandino in chancery script (numbered 4), engraved title (numbered 5), 37 plates (numbered to 42 with the penultimate plate [41] unnumbered), each engraving within one of four separately printed engraved 'command-of-hand' borders (some neat repairs, some old staining). Old vellum (rebacked, modern endpapers).

RARE, apparently unrecorded. Sacchi himself is virtually unknown but it is worth noting that his young contemporary, Tomaso Ruinetti, also a native of Ravenna, later achieved wide acclaim for his use of texts merging with flourished borders in his Idea del buon scrittore published in 1619.
