Rubricated throughout, engraved title vignette. 17th-century French red morocco gilt, panelled covers with central oval of leafy sprays and various small flowerhead tools, the corners tooled with similar leafy sprays enclosing an unusual tool of a woman's head with classical-style hair and head-dress, spine in seven compartments with raised bands, one with green morocco lettering piece, the others gilt, g.e. (joints slightly split, lower headband torn). Provenance: Baignoux (contemporary ownership inscription); Francis Curzon, the Earl Howe (sale Christie's 4 Dec.1933 lot 160 sold #3/10/=).
