Lot Essay

Copied from the fictive marble putti to the right of the Cumean Sibyl in the Sistine Chapel. At Christ Church, Oxford there is a drawing attributed to Raphael after the putti to the Sibyl's left, which were clearly derived from the same cartoon in reverse, J. Byam Shaw, Drawings by Old Masters at Christ Church, Oxford, Oxford, 1976, no. 67, pl. 62
