This drawings is part of Cassiano dal Pozzo's (1588-1657) Museo Cartaceo, a vast collection of antiquarian, architectural, botanical and natural history studies. Almost the entire Museo Cartaceo was bought for King George III by James Adam in 1762. Some of the volumes, chiefly of natural history drawings, were dismembered and sold from the Royal Collection after the First World War
