This drawing is dedicated to the artist and critic Vicomte Henri Delaborde (1811-1899). A pupil of Delaroche, Delaborde exhibited at the Salon. He is perhaps better known as an art critic for La Revue des Deux-Mondes and as an author of books on Ingres, Flandrin and a pioneering work on Marcantonio Raimondi
