Lot Essay

Although the subject of this drawing corresponds with Hercules Segers' etching of Tobias and the Angel (Holl. XXVI, 1), the landscape is closer in appearance to its reworked state in Rembrandt's Flight into Egypt (Holl. XVIII, B 56)
