Although formerly associated with the world of Dürer, to which it harks back, this sheet has been convincingly dated to the next century by Koreny, on the basis of the watermark and the style of the draughtsmanship. The Vienna catalogue cited above includes three further studies of Birds of Paradise, none of which is by the same hand
