Lot Essay

The highly personal, characterised facial types in this relief are very close to the work of Hans Schnatterpeck of Meran (Müller, op.cit.). The very deeply cut swirls of drapery are similar to the angel in the Cleveland Museum of Fine Arts (fig. 268, op.cit.).
