AN ANGLO-SAXON BURNISHED POTTERY JAR, of biconical form with everted rim and ring-foot, the body decorated with four vertical leech-shaped bosses, separated by incised vertical lines, the shoulder with incised triangles infilled with punchmarks, the neck with diagonal incised lines; and another, similar, with four horizontal bosses surmounted by arches in relief, the shoulder with four circular bosses with incised cross, the neck with band of punchmarks and pricked decoration, both with chips to rim, 5th Century A.D., 4½in.
