A COMPOSITE GERMAN FALCHION, the curved double-edged blade with narrow fullers at the forte and ricasso, iron hilt of slender bars with multiple central mouldings and comprising knuckle-guard extending into a rear quillon bent round to form a large side-ring with mushroom-shaped terminal, arms, the tips linked by an oval side-ring, globular fluted pommel, and wire-bound wooden grip with recessed longitudinal iron strips and ferrule at each end, late 16th Century; and a composite German riding sword, the broad blade with double fullers on each face of the forte stamped 'Svanna', iron hilt comprising S-shaped half knuckle-guard, upturned oval shell, incised on the outside with lines, comma-shaped arms, ovoidal pommel with longitudinal flute, and later writhen wooden grip, circa 1630
