A SABRE OF SWISS TYPE with curved single-edged blade (tip damaged) back-edged towards the point and with narrow fuller along the back on each face, forte with running wolf mark between crosses on each face, iron half-basket guard of slender bars comprising heart-shaped side-ring on the outside framing a convex brass plate embossed with foliated scrollwork, linked to the pommel by an outer hand-guard corresponding to a knuckle-guard each with double central swelling, and joined by a diagonal, downcurved rear quillon, thumb-ring, brass pommel cast and chased as a lion's head, and wooden grip with brass ferrules (binding missing), circa 1640
