A COMPOSITE SWEDISH SWORD with broad single-edged blade double-edged towards the point, the back bordered by a narrow double fuller on each face, ricasso with single fuller on the opposite edge, and struck on each face with sickle and twig marks, iron hilt comprising guard with vertically recurved quillons with spatulate tips and button terminals, large side-ring on the outside framing a pierced plate embossed with conventional foliage, slender inner side-ring and thumb-ring, and heart-shaped pommel, decorated throughout with punched foliage, and writhen wooden grip, circa 1640
