The Mercedes-Benz factory commenced a total re-building programme in 1945, since when it has achieved outstanding success with a wide range of models offering both technical and commercial excellence.

The debut of the mid range 220 series was in 1951, in fact ahead of the 300 series. It combined speed with luxury - real leather, good carpets and veneered wood trim. The body style remained in production until 1972.

RFL 758 was garaged for eight years until 1989 when it underwent a major body rebuild and repaint. The trim was re-chromed, new tyres and a new hood were provided. Blue coachwork sets off the leather sets off the blue leather upholstery and whitewall tyres. With a current MoT this car awaits a new owner and the summer sunshine.
