1959 JAGUAR XK150 FIXED HEAD COUPE
Registration No. WLX 150
Chassis No. 824757D/N
Engine No. V6 4009
Engine: six-cylinder in-line, twin overhead camshaft, straight port head, 3442cc, bore and stroke 83mm x 106mm, compression ratio 8:1, 190bhp at 5500rpm, twin SU H6 carburettors. Transmission: single dry plate clutch, four speed manual gearbox, hypoid bevel final drive. Suspension: independent front with double wishbones, longitudinal torsion bars, anti-roll bar, rear, semi-elliptic leaf springs, telescopic shock absorbers front and rear. Brakes: four wheel Dunlop servo assisted discs. Right hand drive.
The last of the traditional and immensely successful XK sports cars, the Jaguar XK150 model was perhaps the greatest of the Coventry company's models until the introduction of the E-Type in 1961. Under 10,000 of these cars were manufactured between 1957 and 1961, and the model was the first to carry Dunlop disc brakes as standard following their lengthy development on the Jaguar sport-racing cars since their introduction on the C-Type in 1952. The XK150 started life with a 190bhp engine and contemporary road tests indicated a top speed of 123mph. Styling changes from the XK140 included a one-piece windscreen, more slender doors (which improved interior width) and a wider bonnet which gave better engine access.
This original right hand drive example is finished in light blue coachwork with a grey leather interior. In 1988 the previous owner had the car repainted and mechanically restored where necessary, it has a current MoT certificate.
