At the 1959 London Motor Show Rolls-Royce Bentley Motors introduced their first all alloy V8 engine in the Bentley S2 and its equivalent, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II. This 6.2-litre engine with hydraulic tappets operating overhead valves produced an approximate 200bhp at 4500rpm. A large quantity was used in the engine construction which enabled a similar weight to be obtained to its 4.8-litre six cylinder predecessor. The result was a larger more powerful engine providing an extremely smooth power curve and top speed well in excess of 110mph. Automatic transmission was standard, as was power steering.

The outstanding appeal of the S2 is its V8 engine and smooth performance. This elegant 1959 standard saloon finished in velvet green with light beige upholstery is one of the first A series cars and was delivered in November 1959 to its first owner in Diss, Norfolk. The car was originally registered EGG 1 and changed to the present number in 1986. The car comes with a complete Rolls-Royce service history, original handbook and most MoTs, indicative that the car has only covered 17,000 miles in the last 10 years. It was repainted in 1987 and over (6,000 was spent on body and mechanical restoration. The mileage is believed to be 119,520 and its superb condition would indicate this being genuine. It has a period HMV radio, current MoT test certificate and history file.
