Royère's designs of this period are considered by many to be the quintessence of French style of the late 1940s and early 1950s. His career stretched from the early 1930s to the early 1970s, but it is for his creations of the immediate post-war period that he is most acclaimed. The present chair reflects both the tradition of French ébenisterie and the refined elegance associated with the great French artist/decorators of the 20th century.
