Abel Landry, along with Colonna, De Feure and Gaillard, was a major contributor to Samuel Bing's 'Pavillon Art Nouveau' at the Paris 1900 Exhibition, and to La Maison Moderne. His work is close to that of his fellow Parisian designers, but especially in his designs for metalwork, shows an influence of the work of Henry van de Velde.
Compare with a similar chair by Landry exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs, 1906, reproduced: Duncan, p. 358.
