Lot Essay

Erich Dieckmann studied at the Bauhaus Weimar from 1921-1925, and remained in the woodworking shop at Weimar after the Bauhaus moved to Dessau in 1925. From 1926 to 1930 he was the director of the department of furniture-making and interior design at the Staatliche Bauhochschule at Weimar, during which time he produced some of his most successful designs in wood.
