Lot Essay

Although part of the British avantgarde in the 1980s, Dubreuil was also influenced by the Neo-Baroque style emanating from Paris. Juxtaposing the brutalism of welded steel with the French décorateur tradition, Dubreuil's distinctive designs are characterised by a sense of luxury which is achieved through labour-intensive methods of manufacture and innovative surface treatments.
This example was acquired by the present owner in 1989.
