Decorated in the Japanese manner in gold hisamakie, silver togidashi and inlaid in aogai, on a silver roironuri ground with sprays of honesty, the leaves represented by carved panels of mother of pearl

Lot Essay

The exquisite quality of the lacquer strongly suggests that it was made by a highly skilled and experienced Japanese craftsman working in Paris to Gailliard's design.
