INDENTAlbrecht V enforced a strong Catholic policy in Bavaria, actively suppressing Protestantism, and at the same time strengthening and centralising Ducal authority. He was also a patron of the arts, founding the library which was to become the Bavarian Royal Library, and employing the artist Hans Aesslinger as sculptor to the Bavarian court
