AN AUBUSSON PASTORAL TAPESTRY
Mid-18th Century
Woven in wools, depicting a shepherdess standing before a huntsman and holding a sheep, to the left with a classical altar and to the right with a vista and a house in the distance, within a border with acanthus-wrapped columns and floral garlands and with a blue outer slip, reduced in height at the top, extensive re-weaving and patching and minor recolouring
100 in. x 61 in. (254 cm. x 155 cm.)
