AN ITALIAN PIETRA-DURA MARBLE TABLE TOP
19th Century, on a modern brass and ebonised stand, possibly incorporating earlier elements
The rectangular grey-veined white marble inlaid with various marbles including verde antico, Siena, lapis lazuli, rosso antico, mother-of-pearl and alabaster, with a central scrolled cartouche flanked on each side by sprays of flowers and with a foliate outer border, on eight ring-turned legs joined by crossed stretchers
