cover 1877 (19 May) U5 to Venice, bearing 1871 3c. tied by framed "PAID", in combination with Straits 1867-72 4c. and 12c. cancelled "B/172", backstamped with "SARAWAK/POST OFFICE" double-lined oval d.s. and Brindisi transit c.d.s.; the U5 a fraction soiled and creased. A magnificent item, the use of the "PAID" being one of only two recorded examples on cover. Photo in colour.
