Lot Essay

The present work corresponds closely with Jacopo Bassano's picture of the same subject of c. 1575 in the Národni Gallery, Prague (see A. Ballarin, Jacopo Bassano Scritti 1964-1995, I, Padua, 1995, fig. 127 and 135).
