Circa 1760
Naturally modelled and splashed in vibrant green, yellow, brown, grey-blue and dark-grey glazes, the hen seated to the left on a shaped nest of straw and corn, with her head turned, her raised wings shielding four chicks, two looking out from the front and two at the back, the tapering oval domed cover with seated chick finial (small restored crack to left shoulder towards her breast, cracked through wings and base and restored, small restored rim-chip to right shoulder at top of wing, restored crack to front of cover, restoration to left side towards the rear and with several restored rim chips, part of left side of flange of cover restored, horizontally cracked through body of finial and repaired, beak of finial a restored replacement)
