Lot Essay

The Arms are those of Graf Alexander Joseph von Sulkowski and his wife Maria Anna Franziska von Stein zu Jettingen

From a large service produced between 1735 and 1738 for Sulkowski who was Augustus III's minister, other examples are illustrated by Rainer Rückert, op.cit., figs. 487-90; a slightly larger example sold in our Geneva Rooms, 14 November 1983, lot 171
