COMBINED FLINTLOCK AND AIR GUN in the French taste, with tapering blued octagonal sighted barrels, blued tang incorporating the back-sight and originally an escutcheon, now missing, signed rounded case-hardened locks with rollers (one cock and mainspring cracked, one steel finial defective, front lock-retaining screw missing), the pans drilled and tapped for touch-hole plugs (missing), moulded figured walnut half-stock, the butt (chipped and cracked) containing the reservoir and finely carved in relief on the cheek-piece with a marine monster, a serpent and foliage, shaped blued iron mounts including hinged butt-plate, blued triggers with safety-catches fitted to the trigger-plate, original horn-tipped ramrod, and much original finish, by Pierre Greverath à Dyck, late 18th Century
