ANOTHER, with swamped octagonal sighted barrel rifled with sixteen alternating broad and narrow grooves, the breech engraved with the date 1517 and struck twice with maker's mark MS, with a pot of flowers, flat lock struck with the Strasburg mark (Neue Støckel 1633) and with engraved flat brass wheel-cover, brass bridle to the cock-spring pierced and engraved with a winged demi-figure, and engraved cock (pan-cover release button missing), figured fruitwood full stock with fluted fore-end (minor cracks), carved in relief with scrollwork and animals beset by hounds in the manner of Johann Michael Maucher, the cheek-piece inlaid in mother-of-pearl with further animals, the patch-box cover with an oval mother-of-pearl plaque carved with berries and foliage in relief, iron trigger-guard (incomplete), set trigger, engraved staghorn ramrod-pipe and fore-end cap, and original horn-tipped ramrod (butt-plate missing), circa 1680, probably stocked in Schwäbisch-Gmünd
