ANOTHER, with tapering blade single-edged at the forte and back-edged for the remainder of its length, bordered on each face by a shallow fuller widening into a section at the base of the blade and etched with gilt pseudo-watering, gilt-brass hilt comprising scallop-shaped downbent shell, slender knuckle-guard and slightly downcurved rear quillon with lobed-shaped tip, both of diamond section and cast and chased at each end with acanthus foliage, dome and faceted pommel-cap, and reeded ivory grip, in gilt-brass mounted leather-covered scabbard (broken) with pocket for a by-knife and fork (the latter missing), gilt-brass suspension mount cast and chased with acanthus foliage, and brass chape en suite, the by-knife with leaf-shaped blade struck on one face with a sun mark, and ivory handle carved as a stag's fore-leg, early 18th Century
