AN UNUSUAL GERMAN EIGHT-BARREL EXPERIMENTAL WHEEL-LOCK PISTOL with barrels of differing lengths fitted at the rear with a ventilated receiver (old repair) for a length of match ignited by the priming powder in the pan, which also discharges the lower right-hand barrel, the barrels subsequently fired in anticlockwise succession by the match, flat lock struck with maker's initials LM, a musket between, and with iron wheel-retaining bracket chiselled in the form of a fish, walnut stock with fish-tail pommel inlaid with engraved staghorn plaques (some missing) and originally fitted with twin ramrods, iron trigger-guard and fore-end band, circa 1600
