A Marseilles (Robert) black-ground dish and cover
Circa 1790
The compressed double-ogee domed cover with onion finial, painted with concentric black and white-ground bands decorated with pink and green foliage S-scrolls, beading and garlands, one central band with two chinoiserie medallions, the flanged footed dish similarly decorated (top of finial and dish restored, two minor chips to shoulder of cover, glaze cracks to cover interior, some minor flaking to the glaze)
