A rare Ludwigsburg Chinoiserie group
Circa 1770, underglaze blue double interlaced C to back, incised FN and puce script S to base, perhaps for the painter Sausenhofer
Modelled by J. Weinmüller as a standing mandarin in a conical hat, a melon on the ground before him, wearing a puce-lined green and puce-edged robe with a flowered pale-yellow and iron-red striped skirt, a seated attendant to his right in a red-lined blue-spotted robe with a basket of flowers, another, kneeling to his left wearing a pink robe and holding a large basket of fruit, before a fruiting tree, on a naturally coloured rockwork base (broken through base and re-stuck, losses and restoration to tree, one basket handle lacking, other minor damages)
