1956 MG ZB MAGNETTE SALOON

Registration No. JSK 690
Chassis No. 2B19463
Engine No. RM26598486356FA
Right hand drive.

The first post-war MG saloon was the Y-Type using the same mechanical components as the MG TC sports car and was replaced by the ZA Magnette in 1953, but powered by the 60bhp version of the BMC 1489cc engine of Austin ancestory. The unitary body construction was that of the Wolseley 4/44 although slightly lower and had a curved facsimile of the MG radiator. In October 1956 the revised ZB Magnette was introduced with improved performance using the recently introduced MGA sports car engine and four speed close ratio remote control gearbox.

The 65bhp engine provided a genuine 80mph cruising speed and the interior with its walnut veneer fascia and door cappings was luxuriously appointed.

This car was first registered on 31st October 1956 and has to be one of the very first models and up until recently has been in regular service. The car is very original and in good mechanical condition, however the sills need replacing and the carpets are in very poor condition.
