1963 FORD CORTINA MARK I TWO DOOR DELUXE SALOON
Registration No. To be announced
Chassis No. 273C/088216
Engine No. 113E/140111
Right hand drive.
When Ford Motor Company replaced their Consul range of medium sized saloons, little did they realise the impact this model would have on future sales, being finally replaced some twenty years later by the Sierra.
The first Cortinas with their clean cut, three box shape had a new four cylinder 1198cc overhead valve engine developing 54bhp, providing 80mph cruising speed. Independent front suspension, four-speed all synchromesh column change gearbox and individual front bucket seats with bench type at the rear. All the brightwork was stainless steel and the two piece front grille displayed a mesh pattern with horizontal divider bar. The model range was a two or four door saloon plus a five door estate and the ultra fast Lotus engined version which provided Cortina with a memorable competition record.
This very early Mark I Cortina two door deluxe model is in remarkable condition, believed to be totally original including the paint, and until recently was a one lady owner car.
